Six Degrees Search is partnering with an established, growing financial services firm in Wheaton, Illinois, to identify an HR / Business Manager.
Our client currently has approximately 22 employees and has ambitious plans for continued growth. They are seeking a hands-on HR professional who enjoys wearing multiple hats, taking initiative, and helping build the processes and infrastructure needed to support an expanding organization.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in recruiting, employee benefits, and general HR administration who wants to take ownership of day-to-day HR responsibilities while growing professionally.
This is a hands-on position, not a traditional people-management role. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently, solve problems, and contribute to both HR and general business operations.
Recruiting & Onboarding
Manage full-cycle recruiting, including job postings, candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, and offer coordination.
Partner with leadership to identify hiring needs and support workforce planning.
Coordinate new-hire onboarding, orientation, and employee documentation.
Help develop recruiting and onboarding processes as the organization grows.
Benefits Administration & Employee Relations
Coordinate employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and other employee benefits.
Manage annual open enrollment and assist employees with benefits questions and elections.
Work with benefits brokers, insurance carriers, and outside vendors.
Maintain employee records and assist with employee relations matters.
Support HR compliance, policies, and employee communications.
HR Operations & Process Improvement
Maintain HR systems, personnel records, and employee documentation.
Support payroll administration and coordinate employee changes.
Develop and improve HR policies, procedures, workflows, and internal processes.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and employee experience.
Help establish scalable HR practices to support future growth.
Business & Office Operations
Support leadership with general business administration and special projects.
Coordinate office operations and vendor relationships.
Assist with internal communications and operational initiatives.
Take ownership of administrative responsibilities that help the organization operate efficiently.
Approximately 3–10 years of progressive HR experience, with flexibility for candidates who bring the right combination of skills.
Hands-on experience with recruiting, onboarding, and employee benefits administration.
Experience or exposure within financial services, banking, insurance, mortgage, investment management, or a related industry is strongly preferred.
Familiarity with HR systems, payroll processes, and employment compliance.
Experience working with benefits brokers and insurance carriers is a plus.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently, prioritize multiple responsibilities, and take initiative.
Comfortable working in a smaller organization where responsibilities may evolve.
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
