Our client is a boutique consulting firm delivering strategy, process, technology, and training services to public-sector and commercial clients across the Gulf South. The firm is built on inclusion, transparency, and accountability, and is known for delivering predictable outcomes for the agencies it serves.
As the Medicaid Eligibility Project Manager, you'll keep complex eligibility work on track from plan to go-live. You'll bring structure to fast-moving policy changes, keep state leaders, vendors, and delivery teams aligned, and surface risks early enough to solve them. Your work helps make sure members keep the coverage they qualify for.
• Plan and manage Medicaid eligibility and enrollment projects, including system changes, policy implementations, and operational improvements.
• Build and maintain integrated project plans, schedules, and milestones across state agency, vendor, and delivery teams.
• Manage risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, and decisions through a disciplined RAID log, escalating early and clearly.
• Lead implementation of new federal and state requirements, including H.R. 1 provisions such as community engagement requirements and more frequent renewals, within mandated deadlines.
• Coordinate with eligibility system vendors, managed care organizations, and adjacent programs such as SNAP and MMIS.
• Facilitate status meetings, steering committees, and working sessions, and document decisions and action items.
• Prepare clear status reports and executive briefings on progress, risks, and decisions needed.
• Manage scope, change requests, and budget against contract and funding requirements, including federal funding documentation where applicable.
• Support testing, readiness, training, and go-live planning so changes land smoothly for eligibility staff and members.
• 5+ years of project management experience, including large, multi-stakeholder technology or policy implementations.
• 3+ years of experience on Medicaid eligibility, enrollment, or other public assistance programs.
• Experience working with state agencies, vendors, and federal requirements.
• Strong planning, RAID management, and reporting skills using Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, or similar tools.
• Experience with Agile, waterfall, and hybrid delivery approaches.
• Clear, calm communication with executives, policy experts, and technical teams.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Experience with CMS oversight, advance planning documents, or state system certification.
• Familiarity with SNAP or other integrated eligibility programs.
• Experience with Mississippi Medicaid or another state Medicaid agency.
